Digging a Better Rootball

When packaging trees in baskets, the shape of the rootball is critical. Ideally, the rootball will completely fill the basket and stand up well on its own. The Dutchman Tree Spade delivers both.

Dutchman Rootball

Excessive crimping on the bottom of a basket can lead to a unstable shape and cause the tree to tip over. Dutchman Truncated and Semi-Truncated (22° and 25° degrees respectively) tree spades dig a deep and full rootball, filling out the basket so minimal crimping is required. Not only does this speed up the process of packaging trees, but it ensures the trees will remain stable and upright all the way through to replanting.
